Crocheted Snowflake Ornaments

This Christmas we filled our tree with handmade crocheted ornaments. These guys work up quickly,  from 20- 45 minutes. I used some bright, fun colors to add some spice to the tree.

The patterns came from a book called Big Book of Thread Ornaments to Crochet by Leisure Arts.
Since the crocheted flakes are misshapen and limp unless starched, they’re not quite finished yet.

I covered a piece of cardboard with wax paper and pinned the snowflakes into shape.

Once shaped, a starch mix is applied to the snowflakes and allowed to dry. I used a store bought mix called Stiffy.

Coral snowflakes to add a touch of whimsy!

  2. Hi Mary,
Some of the patterns I followed were given to me and others I found in this book available on amazon for a fair price . Happy Crocheting!
